Salwar Kameez for Indian Bride

Salwar-kameez is a common outfit worn by Indian women for years. A salwar resembles a pyjama, which is drawn tightly at the waist with a string and is tailored in such a way that it tapers at the ankles. The kameez is the upper part worn over the salwar. Instead of a salwar, women also wear a churidar. This is a tighter version of the salwar accentuating the knees and ankles. The salwar-kamee is usually worn with the dupatta. Today the look of salwar kameez has totally changed. With more of fusion clothing the look of salwar suit has changed from traditional to more contemporary. Salwar kameez is a rage among the female population in India, so much that it has left an indelible imprint in the annals of Indian history. With a fine tradition and a colorful past, salwar kameez has become a fabric, which has brought about a touch of class to Indian women. There are three parts in a salwar suit, namely the kameez, salwar and a dupatta. It is worn in different styles in different communities like the Muslims call it shalwar qameez or shalwar qamis and the Hindu calls it salwar kameej and salwar camis and some people call it salwar suits. The different styles available are salwar kameez, salwar suits, punjabi suits, pakistani shalwar kameez.

The bridal salwar kameez comes in different fabric and style. Mostly bridal suits are available in silk and brocade. Heavy embroidery is made on the suits with zardosi and zari work. Lucknow is renowned for its famous chikankari suits. But the styles chikankari and zardosi have evolved over the years. Zardosi embroidery, which is done with gold thread, is mostly seen in bridal suits. Nowadays Patiala style of salwar suits is in vogue. It has lots of gathers, and drapes in an elegant mould forming even folds from hip to ankle. Salwar kameez is worn during wedding and festive occasion. Especially sangeet ceremony and mehendi ceremony are the special moments when this attire is worn. With the passage of time the style of kameez salwar suits has changed. It has been modified from long kameez to shorter, trendy and fancier kameez. Salwars are also been modified from baggies ones to straight trousers and bell bottom styles. Presently the short kurtas and broad salwaar is very much in fashion. The short kurta or kurtis and churidar, and two scarves also look very elegant and fashionable. For wedding purpose you can opt for colors like rust brown, shades of red and yellow because it is considered auspicious colors for Indian bride.
